Metsys is your portal to a pool of talented technologist located in and around the Space Coast of Florida.
Metsys is owned and operated by Dr. Daniel J. Carreira III. Dr. Carreira has over twenty-four years experience in software development with emphasis in embedded systems, real time operating systems, and enterprise application development in C/C++ and Java.
Dr. Carreira received a Ph.D. in Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, from Florida Institute of Technology in 1995; a M.S. Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1987 and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from University of Central Florida (CUM LAUDE) in 1980.
Prior to starting Metsys he served as Director of Software Technologies at Fifth Generation Computer Corporation (FGC) where he was responsible for developing their intelligent call processing agent. Before joining FGC he served as Principal Engineer for Elcotel Inc. where he developed their Grapevine and ePrism products. Grapevine incorporates web technologies into a standard pay station footprint to deliver interactive content to the caller thereby augmented the stations operator’s revenue stream. ePrism, uses an N-tier architecture to manage Grapevine and legacy pay stations and is being deployed using the ASP model to provide recurring revenue to Elcotel Inc.
Dr. Carreira has served as software engineer, team leader, program manager and department head. His other projects include:
- RTS-C, a C development environment for the Harris RTX family of microprocessors used by several NASA sub-contractors to develop software for various radiation hardened projects.
- The RHC-88, Paravant Inc.’s first rugged hand held PC. The RHC-88 was used in several military applications including an avionics analyzer for the F-15 and F-16 fighter jets.
- Omega, a management system for at Medicomp Inc ‘s ambulatory heart monitor.
